Trends - Spring 2010

Spring symbolizes new possibilities, and for this season's fashions--almost anything is possible! There's truly something for everyone. We've checked the trends, so check out this list.  It might still be cold outside, but this list is hot!

Fashion

Let's start with what we all love—Pretty floral flirty dresses that enhance our femininity. If you're not a floral fan, try one of the season's bold modernistic prints. These dresses are everywhere this season in both loose and straight styles. Both look great in above the knee cuts.

Pair your flirty dress with a long blazer for an evening-on-the-town look. The blazer adds sophistication for dinner, but can be removed when you move on to the dance floor.

The biggest trend for spring—COLOR! Bright colors are popping up everywhere and will certainly brighten up your wardrobe and your mood. Color of the season—Orange! All winter long it's been fringe. Now…its feathers. This is the go-to embellishment for designers this spring. This one's not for the birds.

If feathers aren't your thing, try sparkles. Reserve this for a night on the town, but trade in that LBD for the Little Sparkly Dress. If it's got sequins, jewels or sparkles, it's in.

You're no fool. So celebrate April Fools Day by being prepared for all those coming April showers. Rain boots were once the neglected accessory of the fashion world. But no more. Designers are getting into the act with floral, bright colored and even tartan rain boots (as well as classic black!), so there's no reason you can't be dry and fashionable!

Rips are everywhere. Rips in jeans. Rips in tshirts. Even strategically placed rips in dresses. This isn't for everyone, but if you like it, go for it.

The most popular body part to show-off is still the shoulder. Yes, that one-shoulder dress fashion sticks around for spring. Look for it in shirt styles as well.

Also sticking around…jungle fashions. Animal inspired prints are moving upscale into cocktail dresses, elegant scarves and high-end purses.

Get into nature another way. April 22nd is Earth Day, so celebrate by purchasing a new houseplant (improving air quality in your home) or even a new tree for your yard. If you've got a green thumb, beautify the earth with some spring bulbs and flowers!

BIG this season is the pantsuit.
Pantsuits are popping up everywhere.  Suits in bright colors will be popular this spring but for longevity look for neutral hues. White is elegant and popular this season.

If you've been slacking off at the gym, no worries! Put off the beach and keep your tummy and tush in line with shapewear, now available for spring and summer fashions that naturally show more real estate. Shapewear comes designed for short, straight skirts and summer tanks.

Winter gave us gold. Now spring gives us Silver!  If you're looking for that perfect special occasion dress, silver is your answer.  Looks soft on the skin, pairs great with red, and looks fabulous by candlelight!

Want to up the shimmer factor? Pair that cocktail dress with this season's bejeweled open-toed sandals. These jeweled accessories can add glamour to dresses or dressy jeans alike. Just don't forget the pedi…

If we're talking shoes, let's keep talking. Trade in those boots (that have been big all winter long!) but keep the height. Cork-soled platform shoes and high-heeled clogs are the go-to shoe fashions for spring.

Wanna keep things more down to earth? We've got something for you. Sneakers. But not just any sneakers. This season shoe designers combine the classic with spring's bold, colorful styles. Look for sneakers in bright yellow, orange, blue, green, red….

Want even more color? Back this year are big, bright-colored plastic strap watches. Wear several in different colors for a bold fashion statement.

Make the same statement with multiple bold bangles and chunky bracelets instead of watches. This is a trend that started last winter and just keeps on going. When going jewelry, go big and bold.

Our favorite comedians, Steve Carell and Tina Fey, team up in Date Night, opening April 9th.  The two play a married couple whose attempt to spice up their marriage with a “date night” takes disastrous—but hilarious—turns.

Celebrate Earth Day by seeing Oceans, Disney's follow-up to their 2007 smash documentary, Earth. New technology allows the films' cinematographers to show spectacular footage of the earth's oceans from the point of view of the creatures who live there. Oceans opens April 22.
